With the beginning of the New Year, it seems appropriate to reflect on the past year of the Albert County Historical Society and the Albert County Museum, which included commemorative celebrations, bus tours, school visitations, special events and accomplishments.

Here is a chance to own a piece of history by purchasing the new book "A GLIMPSE OF PAST DAYS". Compiled and written by Dawne McLean, President of the Albert County Historical Society, this book is available at a price of $25. It will be a treasured Christmas gift! There are several ways to purchase in person and the promotional poster has details about how you can purchase a copy.

Please join us on Thursday, September 29th from 1:30 to 3:30 for a presentation from educator and author Janet Coulter Sanford. She will be reading from her new book "Memories on the Bounty" and sharing stories about the movie "Mutiny on the Bounty" and its connection to Atlantic Canada.

The Albert County Historical Society now needs your financial support to preserve this iconic building for future generations. A major refurbishment project is required to save the pillars on the portico, address issues with the stone masonry foundation and other repairs to the exterior of the building.

Introducing the inaugural “Living by the Sea” Children’s Festival at the Albert County Museum! This event is being held during two days – August 12 & 13, 2022 from 10am to 3pm daily. The Children’s Festival will include entertainment, music, games, museum exhibits and book reading presentations by well known children’s authors, Jennifer McGrath and Dianne Carmel-Leger. Participation in the Children’s Festival is included with regular paid admission to the Museum by parents, grandparents or guardians.

Sunday, July 31 from 2-4 pm - Celebrate the Heritage of the Sawmill Creek Covered Bridge in Hopewell Hill, NB. Bring your lawn chairs and sit “inside” the bridge and enjoy music from the “Covered Bridge Band” Fireman’s Canteen and S&C Ice Cream available for purchase. Free to attend.

In celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ascending to the throne, the Albert County Historical Society will host a Platinum Jubilee Ceremony at the Court House on Saturday, June 4, 2022. This event will provide an opportunity to pay tribute to “our Queen of Canada”, who, for many of us, is the only Monarch we have ever known. The event begins at 1pm with a reception to follow in the Community Hall.
