Back to school Monday. This is a great submitted photo from Janet Lindstrom of the Dawson School in 1927. This photo came from her mother Marion Jonah, who married Andy Stewart. Her mother is in the middle row, and would have been 15 at the time of the photo. She stated “The school looks the same as now.”.

100 years ago today, May 28, 1920, the 1919 Victory Loans War Trophy arrived at Cape Station and was towed to Hopewell Cape. This gun was captured at Vimy Ridge, and was won by the citizens of Albert County in the 1919 Victory Loans Competition. Albert County raised f $346,000.00 more than tripled its goal of $110,000.00. We raised a greater percentage over our goal then any other district in the province and were awarded the trophy. The photo of the five boys on the Hopewell Cape Vimy Ridge Gun is from 1935 and shows Douglas Higgins, Burton Fownes, Vernon Fownes, Cyril Cook and Harold Bishop on the gun. Isn't the original camouflage paint job amazing!
